Knight Shield launched day one alongside Dran Sword and Wizard Arrow, arriving in Japan on 15 July 2023 at 1980 yen. Hasbro’s release is Helm Knight 3-80N, which was for a long time among the cheapest ways into a competitively usable blade in the West. Six main contact points, fully round profile.
Its defence is not the passive kind. The commonly cited description is counterattack: Knight Shield generates high recoil on impact, sitting still on Needle in the centre of the stadium and bleeding the spin out of anything that runs into it. Needle’s conical tip does the centring work and gives it strong knock-out resistance, so the stock combination is unusually complete out of the box and holds up against every combo type rather than specialising.
The exploitable weakness is height. Lower combos get underneath 3-80 and lift it, so opponents who know the matchup will build for exactly that. The blade recurs in tournament decks as a defensive third slot, and it has been widely reprinted and never expensive.
