Knight Lance never quite belonged in the category it was sold under. Takara Tomy shipped it as a booster on 10 August 2023 as BX-13; Hasbro repackaged it as Lance Knight 4-80HN in a Starter Pack with a ripcord launcher. The three-sided blade with tapered edges is marketed as Defense, but it carries real smash and upper attack and enough spin to outlast things, which is why bladers talk about it as the closest thing the early format had to a working Balance blade.
Almost nobody runs it as 4-80HN. The setups people actually bring are low — 3-60, 5-60 or 9-60 with Taper or Point — trading the stock height for a combo that can chase an attacker and still be spinning at the end. 3-80T shows up too, chosen for burst resistance.
Treat the stock High Needle as a placeholder. The blade is the purchase; it earns its place against attack and stamina alike, and it has stayed easy to find through repeated reprints.
