Leon Claw arrived as the BX-15 Starter on 7 October 2023 in Japan, and Hasbro brought it West as Claw Leon 5-60P — one of the cheaper entry points into the line. The Gear Chip art is a lion, and Takara Tomy later ran a Metal Coat: Gold BX-00 version through the Rare Bey Get Battle promotion between February and June 2024, which is the version collectors actually chase.
Reviewers have consistently placed this blade in an awkward spot: it functions as a counterattack piece, designed to absorb and redirect an aggressor rather than initiate, but it is light enough that the redirection doesn’t always happen. It lacks the punch to reliably knock out and lacks the endurance to win a long spin, so the useful window is narrow and demands a player who knows exactly what matchup they’re in.
The lasting value here is the 5-60 ratchet, widely regarded as one of the better low-profile options for deck building, plus a serviceable Point bit. Buy it for parts, not for the stock combo. Leon Crest 7-60GN is the successor blade.
