BX-26 introduced the Gear Point bit on 27 January 2024, and Unicorn Sting is the release that gave it a genuinely good blade to sit under. Gear Point behaves like Point with more aggression once tilted, moving faster and covering more ground at the cost of burning stamina — inconsistent, but the most usable of the gear bits Takara Tomy has put out.
Competitively this mattered because Unicorn Sting could go toe-to-toe with Hells Scythe, then among the most common blades in the format, and put up a real fight against Phoenix Wing. The stock combination straight out of the box was posting results against established meta builds rather than needing to be stripped for parts, which was unusual for a mid-line booster.
One constraint shapes how people build it: Unicorn Sting has a gap in its profile and is correspondingly easy to burst, so the standard advice is to keep it at 60 height or lower and not chase the extra reach of 80. The five-sided ratchet it ships with is among the better defensive ratchets available, so most owners simply leave 5-60 in place and experiment with the bit instead.
