Scorpio Spear is a Balance blade with a transforming sub-layer. It launches in a six-sided defense shape, with three metal main contact points and three plastic sub-layer points filling the gaps between them. When the bit spins on the stadium’s X-Line during an Xtreme Dash, the sub-layer rotates and tucks under the metal points, leaving a three-sided attack shape. A hard enough hit from an opponent can shift it as well. It resets after each battle and cannot be launched in attack mode. At release it averaged 39.6 grams, the heaviest blade at that point.
That weight is what made it matter. The Beyblade Wiki notes it was quickly adopted at a high rate and shook up the metagame in a way not seen since Silver Wolf. In stamina builds it has done well against Wizard Rod and Silver Wolf combos. The tradeoff is recoil: in attack and balance setups the shape change makes outcomes feel random, with surprise knockouts in both directions.
For stamina and anti-attack play it pairs well with Ball, Free Ball or Hexa on low ratchets, with 9-60 and 3-60 the usual choices. Balance builds aimed at punishing attackers use Rush or Point, and Kick and Level also show up. Players who find it too swingy usually fall back to Wizard Rod or Silver Wolf for steadier stamina.
