Phoenix Flare Blade

Phoenix Flare is the CX-12 defense booster, made up of the Phoenix lock chip, the Flare main blade and the Zillion assist blade, and it ships on 9-80 with Wall Wedge. Flare is the follow-up to Phoenix Rudder, and its stock version has a red metal coat. It weighs about 31 grams and has many small contact points around a rounded rim, a shape meant to spread impacts and keep recoil low. Zillion is the heaviest assist in the early CX run at over 6 grams.

The Flare and Zillion pair makes a reasonable defensive core, with good weight and stability, but reviewers consider both parts outclassed by heavier or more versatile options already available. The stock combo is weaker than the blade. The 9-80 ratchet sits tall, and Wall Wedge carries a serious burst risk. Flare’s own counter-hits are light, and tournament data is too thin to rank it with confidence.

Most recorded builds drop it low. 9-60 and 7-60 are the usual ratchets, with Low Rush or Kick, and Heavy is a common replacement for Zillion. Metal lock chips like Emperor and Ragna also show up. Zillion and Wheel remain the defensive assist choices. The 9-80 ratchet itself has strong burst resistance and is the part of the booster most likely to see play elsewhere. Defense players generally reach for heavier established blades instead, so Flare suits collectors and anyone experimenting with niche defense.
