Disk Ball is a Ball tip with a circular guard ring moulded around the upper part of it, introduced on Wizard Rod in the Unique Line. The tip alone behaves like Ball — same docile circling, same tendency to drift onto the X-Line when over-launched — but the ring is meant to catch the top and push it upright after a hit. It also makes this the tallest bit in the game by a clear margin, taller than any part actually labelled “High”.
Height is what sinks it. A taller combo sits higher above the ratchet, which raises burst risk and reduces stability, and the ring does not deliver the recovery it promises: once tilted, the top rides on both the tip and the disc simultaneously, staying leaned over rather than righting itself. That bleeds stamina and leaves a flank exposed.
The guard does give it some life after the spin decays, so it has a theoretical argument in spin-equalisation. In practice it is not recommended for tournament play, and Wizard Rod owners near-universally pull it in favour of Ball.
