UX-09 put Samurai Saber at the front of the Unique Line’s second wave, and the gimmick is the sell: two of the four metal contact points fold back under load, taking the blade from a four-sided barrage shape into a two-sided profile meant to land one heavy strike. Takara Tomy paired it with the tall 2-70 ratchet and packed a Hold Launcher in the box.
Bladers picked the gimmick apart quickly. Centrifugal force pushes those flaps outward for most of a battle, so the single-hit mode rarely shows up when it matters, and the extended flaps arguably soften contact rather than sharpening it. What remains is a competent round attack blade that trades hits acceptably in attack mirrors without doing anything a cheaper release can’t.
Practical advice: keep the blade, reconsider everything under it. 2-70 is worth owning for the height but lower ratchets get more out of this shape, and most players move to Flat or a Rush variant. The Hold Launcher makes UX-09 a sane pickup for a newer blader; nobody bought it for the tournament results.
