Dran Brave is the first Custom Line release, CX-01, and it introduced the three-piece blade: the Dran lock chip, the Brave main blade, and the Slash assist blade. Brave is a light, three-winged attack main blade of about 31 grams. Slash is a thin assist of under 5 grams that adds smaller striking points beneath the main wings. Together they are built for speed and early contact rather than mass, which is why the stock combo sits on the aggressive 6-60 Vortex setup.
Its main role in the format is historical. Tournament data places Brave near the bottom of the CX main blades: it lacks the weight and impact of Blast, and when the knockout misses it has little stamina to fall back on. It still shows up in winning decks occasionally, but it is a budget or fun pick rather than a staple. A later version has kept it in circulation, Drake Brave, which pairs it with the Gravity assist.
Brave does its best work low. Players run it on 1-60, 3-60 and 9-60 ratchets with Low Rush, Rush or Kick, and many swap Slash for Heavy or Jaggy to add weight under the wings. The stock 6-60V is mostly left alone. Players who want a CX attacker that can actually contend in tournaments move to Blast, or to Blitz for a heavier smash option.
