Wedge Bit (W)

Wedge presents a small-diameter sharpened tip, closer in spirit to a needle than to anything ball-shaped, and it behaves accordingly — minimal contact patch, minimal friction, and a strong tendency to plant itself in the centre of the stadium and stay there. The distinguishing detail is not the tip at all but the gear ring around it, which carries ten teeth where nearly every other bit carries twelve. Fewer teeth means the bit engages the X-Celerator rail less greedily, so an Xtreme Dash costs less spin than it would on a standard gear count. For a part built around outlasting the opponent, that is meaningful insurance against the accidental rail contacts a defensive combo cannot always avoid.

The competitive read is respectable rather than exciting. Wedge combines usable stamina with genuine defensive counter-attack, and it sits in a workable middle ground between staying put and being pushed around, but it is good across several categories without being the best in any of them. That keeps it in niche territory, especially given how well the format’s stamina builds are already served by round-tipped options.

It suits low-recoil defensive blades on taller ratchets. Players who want more raw endurance and easier re-stabilisation generally reach for the ball family instead, while those wanting a harder centre-hold move to the needle end of the range.
