Dran Sword is a three-winged Attack blade, and each wing slants upward at its leading edge. Takara Tomy describes the three upper blades as built to flip opponents diagonally upward, but in practice most of its damage comes as heavy smash hits, with true upper attack showing up only now and then. At roughly 34.5 g it is one of the heavier blades of the first wave, and the weight sits in those three exposed points.
It is the attack blade the original lineup is judged against. Community references place it alongside Shark Edge as the best attack option of the early Xtreme Gear Sports releases, and BeyBase’s player lists put Dran Sword 3-60 builds in their top five as a strong, comparatively safe attack combo. Stamina is poor, and the contact points dull with play, so attack output drops over time and regular players often keep more than one copy.
Three-sided ratchets suit the three wings, so 3-60 and 3-80 are the usual picks. Taper was the go-to bit for tournament attack builds, Flat and Rush trade control for speed, and Needle is the calmer option that cuts self-knockouts. Players wanting even harder single hits move to Shark Edge, and later attack blades eventually replaced both.
