Sol Eclipse is the CX-09 balance starter, made up of the Sol lock chip, the Eclipse main blade and the Dual assist blade. Eclipse is one of the heavier CX main blades at about 32 grams, and it is reversible: one face is set up for upper attack and the other for smash. Dual is also reversible, and the stock Trans Kick bit switches between high and low modes. Together the stock bey has eight configurations, so it can be adjusted for a specific matchup between rounds.
It ranks above the middle of the CX main blades, ahead of the other early CX releases. The tradeoff is the usual one for a do-everything part. No single mode matches a blade built for that job, stamina is only average in either orientation, and getting value from the switching means knowing which setting each matchup calls for. Players report that its sharp edges let it counter-hit with relatively little recoil.
Low ratchets work best, with 9-60 the most common and 1-60 or 5-60 behind it, together with Kick, Low Rush or Level. Heavy is a common assist swap, and many players move it onto a metal lock chip such as Emperor. Its weight also makes it usable in defense builds with Wheel or Zillion on a low ratchet. Players who want one dedicated role, rather than adjustment between rounds, use a specialist blade instead.
