Free Ball is a ball tip with the notches removed. In an ordinary bit, small notches lock the bit against the ratchet so that hitting the X-Line transmits force through the whole assembly and fires an Xtreme Dash. Free Ball’s shaft is modified so it turns freely inside the ratchet instead, and the broad rounded contact patch does the rest of the work — low friction, centre-holding, long spin. The free-spinning shaft is not there to help you dash. It is there to stop you dashing.
That inversion is the whole point. Xtreme Dashes burn spin, and stamina players spend the match trying not to trigger them; because Free Ball slips rather than grips when it meets the X-Line, it fails to engage far more often than a locked bit would. It is a genuinely strong stamina option and worth owning, though standard Ball is still the more common default.
Free Ball goes on round, low-recoil stamina blades with taller ratchets that keep it away from the rail. Players who want the option of dashing back go to Ball or Orb.
